Our mission: To be Earth's most customer-centric company.

Job summary
Do you enjoy the challenge and ownership that comes from driving complex, cross-functional and cross-organizational releases for the worlds best known reading app? Are you equally comfortable working closely with a variety of partner teams to ensure that they can onboard and ship with the Kindle app while holding a high quality bar? If this type of work appeals to you, then maybe you are the right person to drive the release process for Kindle on the iOS and Android devices to provide a great reading experience to millions of customers around the world.

The Kindle Team is looking for a passionate, results-oriented Technical Program Manager who will be responsible for driving the software release process.
In this role you will be the key leader driving the process of shipping the Kindle app on iOS and Android. This requires working with over 30 teams that contribute to the overall release, as well as coordinating the submission and review process with the appropriate stores. You’ll work directly with product teams to onboard them to the release processes, and ensure that the overall release train is running smoothly. It’s a busy job as we are constantly shipping new features, but one that is ultimately rewarding as you see these features used in market.

This role requires hands-on project management skills, technical expertise, and excellent leadership skills. You will be responsible for working closely with teams to ensure that they can ship their features, driving schedules — and adapting those schedules when necessary for special events. You’ll monitor the dial-up of the release around the globe and ensure that customers continue to have a great experience as they read books and magazines, or listen to their favorite audio books.

But this opportunity is more than just running the release(s). It’s figuring out how to do it better. How can we improve the quality? Reduce the effort? Improve cross organization communication? Being great in this role is about making it better, not just driving the status quo.

Are you ready for the challenge?

A day in the life
Yesterday was a busy day. The latest release was signed off for testing, so it was uploaded to the AppStore and set to deploy to 1% of the customer base. Today, before continuing the rollout you check to ensure that there are no reported issues and that it’s safe to do so because even 1% is thousands of users who tried the new version. Later, you take a call from a team that wants to deliver a new feature on Android and they want to know how to incorporate their feature into the upcoming release. You spend time in the afternoon looking downstream and aligning your release schedule with new devices that are shipping to ensure that customers of new devices will have the best version of Kindle possible. Later this evening, when asked “how was your day?”, you’ll remember the customer review you read on the AppStore that talked about how they love the Kindle app because it allows them to read books that they love while traveling. Not a bad day!
