Position Overview

For product teams to move faster towards the future, they must be empowered, and held accountable, to reduce time to value, gradually reducing delivery cycles and adopting new practices and technology, converging towards continuous delivery to customers. The Chief Technologist must partner with product teams to both accelerate this change from the inside and relay their needs for acceleration to other parts of Autodesk, and champion those needs on behalf of AEC Design.

Responsibilities

As the VP, Chief Architect, andthetop technical leader of the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) Design organization, you will:

  • Drive the strategic technical direction for AEC Design’s products, platform and influence the direction of services and products across the company
  • Work closely with the CTO across Autodesk’s platform initiatives
  • Team with AEC Design Leadership regarding future platform and technology opportunities and the effect of decisions on current and future objectives
  • Act as a visionary leader to the development community; evangelizing, communicating, and distributing technical information
  • Engage and partner with product teams to align technical strategy and execution.
  • Push boundaries and infuse the organization with modern technology and mindsets
  • Provide guidance to AEC Design leadership and CEO staff on advanced technical issues, customer problems

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML, and more specifically deep learning types of problems, and familiarity with AI maturity models and common AI platforms (e.g. AWS Sagemaker, MLFlow, etc.)
  • Familiarity with IIoT maturity models, and cloud IoT platforms, such as AWS and Azure
  • Experience with modern, cloud-native toolchains (SDLC tools, Kubernetes, etc.), infrastructure as code, serverless (e.g. Lambda, Kappa), etc.
  • Experience with a variety of cloud-native data stores of various types such as document and key-value stores (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB), cloud data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake), relational stores (e.g. MySQL, PostGreSQL, etc.), and graph stores e.g.Neo4j)
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. loosely coupled, leveraging AWS EventBridge or similar)
  • Experience with front-end technologies and the scalable implementation of design systems
  • Knowledge of cloud security models and best practices (e.g. OWASP)
  • Knowledge of international compliance standards (e.g. NIST, SOC2, ISO 27xxx, FedRAMP)

The Ideal Candidate

  • Profound understanding of how innovative product organizations leverage continuous delivery to optimize time to value, and the enabling (cloud) technology and engineering practices that are needed to support it
  • Enterprise mindset. Has owned and deliveredinnovative customer- facingSaaS products at scale
  • Technical visionary. Able to set and evangelize a holistic architectural roadmap anddrive long-term strategic technological direction
  • Experiencewith Saas at scale for services that are mission critical to your customers
  • Bonus for experience leading large-scale cloud migration initiatives from primarily desktop products
  • Deep technical competence aroundcloud, platform, and backend services, distributed architecture,open source,working with metadata,data pipelines, understands large data flows
  • Ability to interface and understand the needs of technical clients in the AEC industry and translate those needs into robust software solutions
  • Demonstratesa high level of technical credibility; player/coach who can garner the respect of the technical team and attracts top-tier SW talent
  • Exceptional influencing skills. Able to work independently in highly ambiguous environments, with technical and business groups internally and externally
  • Track record of working on new cutting-edge tech to solve meaningful
