Ever wanted to help build the tools that designers use to envision a better world? Autodesk’s platform team designs the API’s, services, and infrastructure that our customers and developers use to extend the capabilities of Autodesk’s design and make software. The platform helps other companies bring businesses to life to solve important workflow challenges and bring new possibilities to life based on our 3D modeling, visualization, and data insight software by contributing new applications, content, and plugins to our ecosystem. You will collaborate with other designers and teams who are passionate about bringing better experiences to the fields of architecture, construction, manufacturing and film and visual effects.

As an Experience Design Manager, you will define the strategy for accessing and visualizing application data that is made available through the Autodesk cloud. You will lead and inspire a team of designers who are tasked with bringing customer workflows to life as their industries undergo digital transformation. You will provide the tools, processes, and structure to a team tasked with changing the way design is accomplished – withautomated workflows and collaboration across company boundaries.

In this position you will be building experiences across many interfaces – desktop, web, and mobile – as well as API, SDK, and low-code touchpoints. You and your team will have the opportunity to dive deep into a technical understanding of developer needs, get ahead of technological trends, build a pathway from current technology to the future – and help our customers build amazing applications on top of granular data.

Success in this role requires experience design strategy, project and program management, creative and systems thinking, ability to facilitate and synthesize customer research with a lens on business impact. Finally, you will actively champion platform vision through compelling storytelling, while understanding the technical foundation of data driven customer workflows.

Requirements

  • Collaborate with your own team, delegating and reviewing work in progress. Mentor and guide team members – motivating them to achieve their goals, as well as yours.
  • Receive outcome-based projects, then determine resources to meet schedules and goals.Provide guidance to ensure design work is of quality and within the project directives and requirements.
  • Work through issues of diverse scope wherethe situation requires you to evaluatea variety of factors. Follow processes, policies, methods and techniques for resolutions.
  • Develop and implement operational initiatives that deliver tactical results. Translate functional plans into innovative processes and right sized execution.
  • Recommend changes to existing policies and establish new procedures. These decisions will impact your immediate team – and influence adjacent teams.
  • Interact with supervisors, customers, functional peer groups of professionals, as well as product managers and software architects.
  • Effectively communicate through presentation – making recommendations across design and product discipline. Partner with key contacts outside your own area of expertise – as well as external stakeholders.
  • Form a network with company-wide designers, product management, and customer support to train and evangelize new workflows and functionality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 + years of experience in user experience design or related professional practices
  • 2 + years of experience managing a user experience or content design team
  • Experience in research – interviews, ethnography, user testing, etc.
  • Strong skills in prototyping and design software (i.e., Figma, Adobe products) and complementary presentation tools (i.e., PowerPoint)
  • Experience presenting design related topics to an internal and external audience
  • A history of delivering and measuring the impact of products and platforms on production environments
  • Technical ability to engage with development tools (i.e., Git, VS Code, Postman, Stoplight, Swagger)
  • Adegree in a related field of design, such as HCI, product design or interaction design, or a computer science degree paired with commensurate experience design work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for cloud platforms
