DevOps and Site Reliability Engineer – Remote (EST preferred)

We are expanding our support team for the Cloud Enablement and Workplace organization, part of Digital Enterprise Services IT, to enhance the company’s IT systems, applications, and processes. Our engineering culture will empower you to make effective decisions, work collaboratively, and take accountability for engineering projects at the core of the company.

The team is seeking an experienced DevOps and SRE to help guide this team in their journey towards becoming a world-class engineering team.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Improve and automate pipeline processes to enhance the reliability of end services
  • Provide assistance in locating and remediating issues throughout the development phase while also applying a developer’s mindset to operational issues
  • Document interactions, processes, problems, and solutions to ensure that team members have easy access to the information
  • Analyze metrics to support better decision-making and to improve the system performance and support root cause analysis
  • Develop, test, and enhance all Continuous Delivery and Integration pipeline features, including automated tests, and promotion pipeline stages
  • Develop, support, maintain Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift infrastructure
  • Develop and implement automation for manual tasks
  • Take corrective action to avert system degradations or possible outages from OS and application layer
  • Collaborate on development and platform administration efforts that are aligned with strategic goals using the Agile practices
  • Definition of and documentation of best practices, policies and standards that ensure a resilient highly available service stack
  • Assist and mentor L1/L2 services teams to deliver high caliber, zero-touch and automated support forJira, Confluence, Vault, Secret Server, JetBrains, Stoplight, and other applications

  • Excellent interpersonal skillsin written and verbal format

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-team/Geo model to ensure successful management of operational tasks (setting resolution expectations, ensuring proper escalation and/or hand-offs as needed, etc.)
  • Can articulate technical topics to non-technical audiences both in writing and in person
  • Demonstrable IT knowledge commensurate with DevOps in an Enterprise in the public cloud (AWS)
  • Willing to flex your behavioral style to meet the needs of the team or work at hand
  • Confident of your skills, abilities and willing to share what you know, while learning from others
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and ability to work in a scrum team

Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of overall IT experience
  • 3+ years of CI/CD Engineering experience with hands-on on CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, AWS code build/pipeline, Azure DevOps
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in AWS (EC2, Kubernetes, Docker)
  • 1+ years of programming experience in Python or JavaScript
  • Proficiency with shell scripting or PowerShell
  • Experience with Linux and Bash; comfortable on the Unix command line
  • Experience with Git/GitHub and Software configuration management
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, AWS developer tools – Code Build and Code Pipeline
  • Proficient in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker tech stack
  • Automation experience in any one of the cloud deployment systems such as Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation, or any such tools
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience with Databases like DB2, Oracle, SQL
  • Familiar with Agile and DevOps concepts and practices
  • Experience with code repositories (Git), continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven, Code Build and Code Pipeline).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Splunk
  • Experience with Postgres DB
  • Experience with Vault
  • Application support experience with Jira and Confluence
