Position Overview

The Director of Employee Experience Design will build and evolve an industry leading EX design function goaled on elevating the experience for candidates, employees and leaders of Autodesk. This role will be accountable for hiring and developing a team of experience design professionals who will partner with leaders across PPL and our key corporate partners to co-create remarkable experiences for the moments that matter throughout the employee lifecycle. The Director, EX Design will oversee the creation of comprehensive and sustainable user-centered service design frameworks and practices that will encourage use of data insights, design thinking, and employee listening for all PPL initiatives that will impact the employee experience.

The ideal candidate will have a background in design thinking and product design and will be a strong collaborator, employee experience evangelist, and people leader.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of service design strategies, practices and tools
  • Responsible for attracting and developing a team of experience design experts to tackle elevating candidate and employee experiences across the employee lifecycle
  • Oversee the use of design research techniques to uncover employee needs and pain points
  • Lead the development of service concepts, blueprints, employee journey maps and other service design artifacts
  • Establish standard practices for building personas, creating journey maps and service blueprints, setting EX metrics, conducting user research and designing experiences
  • Partner with ESE (IT) function to buy/build modern digital solutions that can meet our desired experiences
  • Understand and identify ways to deliver tangible improvements in end-to-end experience for Autodesk employees
  • Research emerging areas of opportunity and transform insights into compelling storytelling
  • In collaboration with business stakeholders and product/process-re-engineering peers, lead discovery sessions being the voice of user experience and product design, including the facilitation of ideation and alignment as required to drive to actionable outcomes
  • Collaborate with peers to standardize engagement models, share the EX Design practices approach, and train others on the how and the why behind the work
  • Manage engagements and initiatives in a white space environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in related field required, MS/MFA preferred
  • 10+ yrs experience in specialization such as user experience, design strategy, marketing activation design, interaction design, or visual and content design
  • Ability to tackle a diverse and complex set of design challenges and recognize patterns to help develop creative, strategic, and scalable solutions for our client experience and engagement model
  • Expert in creating experience maps, user journeys and service blueprints, interaction models, flows, high fidelity wireframes, and UI / visual design
  • Master facilitator with proven track record running partner engagements, demonstrating excellence in presentation polish, executive presence, and employee/leader orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (public speaking, storytelling, presentation building skills)
  • Experience working with design systems, components, and extensible assets
  • Proven history of delivering results on time, within budget, and with high level of execution
  • A creative optimist and self-starter who brings energy and enthusiasm to the work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Experience driving large global transformation programs
  • Leadership experience and the ability to influence in an indirect, matrix-based, virtual environment
  • Track record to drive business results – identify and capitalize on opportunities, identify risks/issues, assess implications, formulate recommendations, and drive sound decisions that deliver results
