Position Overview

Ever wanted to help build the tools that designers use to envision a better world? Autodesk’s platform team designs the API’s, services, and infrastructure that our customers and developers use to extend the capabilities of Autodesk’s design and make software. The platform helps other companies bring businesses to life to solve important workflow challenges and bring new possibilities to life based on our 3D modeling, visualization, and data insight software by contributing new applications, content, and plugins to our ecosystem. You will collaborate with other designers and teams who are passionate about bringing better experiences to the fields of architecture, construction, manufacturing and film and visual effects.

The Principal Experience Designer will work on strategic initiatives to create cohesive and scalable customer experiences that will have broad company impact. The role will require top-notch interaction design skills, along with a strategic mindset and ability to collaborate with different product teams. Success in this role requires ability to drive alignment with cross-functional partners/teams, actively championing enterprise vision through data-driven storytelling, and a proactive desire to collaborate with others. You will work on services that have broad, cross-company impact and enable velocity and innovation for a variety of internal and external products.

This is a remote/hybrid role based in Shanghai, China.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design, and build great experiences from initial concept through successful implementation
  • Partner with engineering teams and product managers to provide thoughtful experience and interaction design solutions that deliver usable and desired value to customers while understanding technical constraints and effectively balancing quality and speed of delivery
  • Distill complex ideas, large amounts of data and viewpoints to their essence while keeping an eye on the bigger pictures and considering every touch point along the user journey
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of user-centered design process
  • Research and analyze current and future UX technology patterns and design trends, including market research and competitive analysis
  • Create artifacts, such as information architecture diagrams, conceptual diagrams, task flows, wireframes, prototypes, and screen flows
  • Facilitate experiments and designs to rapidly test and iterate prototypes
  • Manage time, prioritize tasks, and work within deadlines with little supervision

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive professional UX/UI design experience working with cross-functional agile teams
  • Excellent visual, interaction design and verbal communication skills
  • Experience visualizing solutions with wireframes, visual designs, journey maps and prototypes
  • Demonstrated experience and interest in presenting design related information to a variety of internal and external audiences including software development and other stakeholders
  • Prior experience with Figma, Adobe XD or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring other UX designers
  • BA/BS or Graduate degree in HCI, New Media Design, Computer Science, or related field
  • Desire to work autonomously, own projects from end to end, and collaborate with globally distributed agile teams in a fast-moving environment
  • Experienced with modern human-centered design best practices, customer interaction methods and highly skilled in facilitation and design thinking
  • Strong work ethic, high degree of empathy and passionate about great customer experiences
