The Faculty of Health Education and Life Sciences is looking to recruit an Administration Assistant on a permanent, full time contract. The post will be based within the School of Nursing & Midwifery. You will report directly into a team leader and work closely with other administrators and academics within the school.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to positively contribute to the student experience at Birmingham City University and who is seeking a career in the exciting world of administration in Higher Education. The role will be responsible for the maintenance and tracking of the moving and handling skill sessions of all student the School of Nursing and Midwifery and School of Health Sciences combined. Effective administration will directly impact on the student’s progression through the course and contribute to the increase of qualified health professionals in the community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of responsibilities related to the Moving and Handling Team, these include

  • tracking and updating skill session attendance within the two Schools
  • ensuring timetables are set and planned
  • sending relevant emails to book staff on to sessions to support
  • corresponding with students regarding skill sessions
  • updating Risk Assessment trackers and clerking meetings
  • rearranging sessions where necessary and ensuring students are added to catch up sessions
  • liaising with the Statutory and Mandatory Admin Assistant to report attendance
  • attending regular meetings with Moving and Handling Team
  • contribute to all other administrative requirements as necessary

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) coupled with proven administrative and IT experience (with a particular focus on Microsoft Excel) within a complex environment. Experience in a student-facing role is desirable. Beyond that, your ability to act as a team player, demonstrate intellectual curiosity, to manage your workload and your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be what sets you apart.
