PennState Global is the centralized hub of the university’s international activities. As such, our office serves and supports students, faculty, and staff throughout the university, across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and around the world. is a world renowned and globally engaged university and the Vice Provost’s Office is currently seeking candidates for our open Administrative Support Assistant position.

Reporting directly to the Executive Assistant for Penn State Global, this position will be involved in a wide range of daily tasks and longer-term projects, including but not limited to:

Managing the Vice Provost’s calendar,

arranging travel,

hosting visiting dignitaries and other guests of the Vice Provost,

maintaining contact lists and databases,

ordering and organizing office supplies,

processing mail, and

reconciling financial transactions related to all of the above.

Education and Experience:

This position typically requires a minimum of a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. However, this position also represents an excellent entry level opportunity for a candidate with a baccalaureate degree seeking a career in higher education. This exciting position also requires the ability to:

Multi-task with energy in a busy office where no two days are the same;

operate in a digital environment where important work is conducted by computer;

manage time and be a motivated problem solver able to adapt to changing priorities;

exercise discretion when handling sensitive information; and

be interpersonal and interactive with strong communication skills.

The successful candidate should have customer service skills as well as evidence of intercultural and/or international competence or experience. That candidate will be able to clearly communicate verbally as well as in written correspondence and be familiar with media used to reach our stakeholders. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is essential. Ideally, we are looking for a person with prior knowledge of and experience with university systems and applications, but we will support training for candidates that fulfill all other criteria.

Finally, this position interacts with a broad spectrum of internal and external constituents – including students, faculty, staff, and senior university administrators. Hybrid and flexible work arrangements will be considered to the extent that this maintains the efficient operation and productivity of the office as agreed by the candidate, their supervisor, and the Office of Human Resources.
