Project Background

The Government of Pakistan has designed and initiated a six-year project titled “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (KP-IAIP)” through the PIU KP- IAIP Directorate General OFWM Agriculture Department. KP-IAIP is aligned with the National Water Policy and the KP Agriculture Policy and Strategy (2015 -25), and aims “to improve the performance of irrigated agriculture on smallholder farms in its implementation area”. The key objectives will be achieved through: a) improving on-farm water management system by upgrading watercourses, introducing advanced irrigation technologies, and strengthening capacity of communities, farmers, and OFWM staff; and b) increasing agriculture productivity as well as promoting agro-processing and value addition.

1 Team Leader Key Expert Team leader will be the focal point for all the tasks under the Monitoring Consultant’s assignment and responsibility.

• Lead the overall contract management and coordination with the top-tier leadership of the client
• Lead all meetings at the inception phase
• Lead the design of updated M&E methodology in light of the discussions with the client at the inception phase
• Review the work/ progress of the M&E team and provide required quality assurance, management and supervisory support
• Lead the review of M&E questionnaires/ tools
• Conduct quality assurance visits to KP-IAIP sites to assess the performance of M&E team as well as KP-IAIP teams
• Lead review of inputs received for reporting to the client and compilation of inputs to finalize the deliverable reports
• Suggest strategies to the Project Management for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks
• Coordinates with Project Implementation and Supervision Consultants and PIU in delivering the M&E tasks
• Any other tasks relevant to delivery of M&E Consultant’s contract.
