WACCASASSA BAY PRESERVE STATE PARK

This position assists in planning, coordinating and implementing all administrative activities involved in park operation. This is an OPS position that will be scheduled up to 24 hours per week. The candidate will be required to assist with all fiscal duties, preparing reports, and purchasing for the park’s needs. Strong computer skills required especially using Quicken and MyFloridaMarketPlace.

Where You Will Work:

Waccasassa Bay Preserve borders Florida’s Gulf Coast between Cedar Key and Yankeetown, extensive salt marshes and tidal creeks create rich habitat for saltwater fish, crabs and shellfish. The horizon-to-horizon expanses of salt marsh are broken up with dense tree islands of red cedar, cabbage palm and live oak. The hydric hammock that borders the estuary is one of the last remaining remnants of the once vast Gulf Hammock. It is now protected as a reminder of the expansive hardwood forest that was once a feature of Florida’s outstanding natural areas.

Pay:

$15.00 PER HOUR

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent for this position will operate a computer. Operate copier/scanner/fax and other office equipment. Create and/or prepare reports. Maintain various data bases. Complies and edits information for reports. Maintain property and records. Maintain all work locations office supplies. Maintain park files. Assists in purchasing. Researches products and services. Follow up on projects/tasks. Meet deadlines. Assist in troubleshooting Cedar Key Museum’s POS system and other related equipment. Respond to visitor’s requests and questions in person, over the phone, and in writing. Learn all clerical workstations and works these stations as necessary. Learn park information, policies, rules, and procedures to provide accurate and helpful information.

Assist with office cleaning.

Perform other work-related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • administrative and clerical procedures and systems
  • correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage

Skill in:

  • organizing and maintaining a filing system – hard copies as well as electronic

Ability to:

  • operate computer including Microsoft Office, Outlook and other programs as required

  • plan and coordinate office assignments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of State of Florida purchasing requirements and regulations.
  • Knowledge of State of Florida software and procedures including Oculus and FLAIR.
  • Knowledge of compiling and submitting vehicle logs in FLEETwave every month.
  • Ability to manage multiple budgets to include monthly reconciling, projecting future expenditures, running budget reports in Quicken.
  • Ability to create requisitions in MyFloridaMarketplace to pay monthly invoices and procure goods and services.
