Job summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) serves customers and developers who rely on storage, compute, and our other service capabilities. Our customers trust us to handle their data with air-tight security measures, which is something that we guarantee. AWS Data Center Security team is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive large scale initiatives aligning infrastructure and software solutions to secure our compute infrastructure and our customer’s data. The TPM will be global process owner who is a passionate advocate to drive mechanism and automated solutions, process improvement and operational excellence. Our team works with key stakeholders across AWS Infrastructure to design and build operational processes, develop software tools to automate mechanisms and develops hardware innovations to secure our infrastructure. The TPM will drive a data oriented approach for prioritization strategies and implementation plans across the Global Data Center footprint. This individual will ensure the protection of customer data and intellectual property and maintain the availability of the AWS platform for our customers.

Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate is customer obsessed, innovative, independent and results-oriented. As a Senior TPM, you will

  • Work with key stakeholders across multiple organizations to define strategy and requirements to secure media assets within AWS Data Centers
  • Be responsible for scoping and driving end-to-end software roadmaps, analytics and operational solutions that span multiple technology teams.
  • Establish and manage operational metrics and provide written and verbal updates to leadership
  • Innovate process and tool features on behalf of our customers.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software development teams, hardware development teams, and global process owners to architect and deliver technical solutions.
  • Own project roadmaps and lead implementation efforts in both the data center and in the office space.
  • Build process flows with stakeholders that achieves balance between enhancing security and enabling the operational teams to be effective in their day to day data center management.

Your job requires a high degree of judgement, the ability to negotiate and influence delivery across teams, and excellent communication skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operational Management, Computer Science, or a similar degree, or commensurate industry experience
• 7+ years of industry experience, strong project management skills e.g. project definition, requirement definition, project plan creation and execution, risk management, success measurement/KPIs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Cross-team coordination and executive presentation skills
• Acute sense of business acumen (pragmatic approach to cost benefit analysis in a monetary, operational, security and hardware management sense)
• Experience with Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, PMI methodologies
• Experience with hardware development process and lifecycle management
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
