Senior Product Planner for Premium Business Notebooks

We are looking for a creative, passionate, and experience-focused product planner to lead our award-winning and innovative HP EliteBook 1000 series premium business notebooks.

These notebooks showcase HP leadership with innovative and unique HP experiences and innovations, integrate premium materials and design elements, and delight our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a vision for your products. Inject excitement and energy into those partnering with you on these products, and continuously ensure alignment to your strategy and product roadmap.
  • Define the critical user experiences for your products, and an associated curation plan to ensure that metrics, testing plans, and key outcomes are clearly communicated.
  • Be an expert and voice of your customers – both end users and IT decision makers, by constantly engaging with customers to develop a deep understanding of their needs and pain points.
  • Gather the market and technology trends and information needed to drive leadership with your products by closely coordinating with the insights, competitive, COE, and sales teams, as well as with our partners (Intel, AMD, Microsoft, etc.).
  • Develop and drive a business plan for your product line, including volumes, financials, pricing, and critical go-to-market elements required for success. Ensure that the COE is aligned to product and business plans and properly prepared to execute your plans.
  • Seek out and gather data and analytics as necessary to help with decision making and feature trade-offs to optimize the design of your products.
  • Partnering with engineering, design, marketing, finance, supply chain, quality, services, and the accessories team to deliver innovative and differentiated products with supporting ecosystem, services, and assurance of supply.
  • Clearly articulate your product narrative(s) as well as product marketing fundamentals for your products, including customer segmentation, positioning, value proposition, key differentiators, messaging, and initial product claims.
  • Meet all product planning deadlines as dictated by the latest product development process, ultimately driving to POR, and then partnering product manager to transition product responsibilities while continuing to assist as necessary to ensure execution of your product and business plan.
  • Lead projects for our team and business unit that involve cross-functional coordination to provide better customer experiences, integrated products/services/solutions, and improve business processes.
  • Be fearless in providing regular product decisions, updates, and recommendations to executive management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Always be the expert on your product by addressing questions from the COE team, staying aware of challenges with shipping products, and supporting efforts with the NPs and press teams as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 10+ years product planning or management experience, or comparable work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field, with strong preference for an MBA.
  • Results oriented, with the ability to work independently to make decisions and drive the product line strategies, processes, and schedules required to meet business goals and deadlines, while influencing and leading other teams to solve challenging problems.
  • Superior writing and collateral creation skills, with a passion for quality content.
  • In depth knowledge of marketing elements, with the creativity and confidence to develop innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Consistently applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a product expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
  • Broad knowledge of marketing and marketing program implementation: knowledge of competitor’s product offerings, knowledge of industry norms and opportunities, understanding of product life cycle, in depth knowledge of marketing elements (product, pricing, promotion, and positioning).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a matrix and cross-functional team environment.
  • Patience and perseverance, as technology and product plans will inevitably change.
  • Strong interest and capability to become an expert in the technical aspects of business notebook technology, features, and design.
  • Ability to think creatively, and to continuously be open-minded to consider new approaches, experiences, and processes.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Powerful presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English.
