Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Military Trainer / Principal Military Trainer – Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) Planner to join our growing team of diverse professionals in Suffolk, Virginia. The (MSEL) Planner will support the Joint Staff team in delivering collective joint training to enhance the operational effectiveness of the current and future joint force.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a functional expert for the planning, conceptualization, and preparation of MSEL products for joint and combined military exercises and mission rehearsals in coordination with the Joint Exercise Support Team (JEST)
- Provides consulting expertise to military or defense clients in the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine
- Leverages specialized expertise in planning and executing some or all phases of military training exercises, including doctrinal development, scenario development, and after-action review and analysis
This position may be filled as a Military Trainer or Principal Military Trainer per the requirements below.
Basic Qualifications for Military Trainer – MSEL Planner:
- One of the following:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of professional and/or military leadership experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent
- Must be willing and able to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 25% of the time)
- Must possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport
- Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia

- One of the following:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent
- Must be willing and able to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 25% of the time)
- Must possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport
- Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with operation of a military simulation model
Salary Range: $56,300 USD – $84,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $69,300 USD – $103,900 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
