Job description: Salary: HK$67,475 per monthEntry Requirements: Candidates should (a) possess Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Electrical or Mechanical Discipline) elected after 5 December 1975, or equivalent; and (b) have attained Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (See Note 1). Preference will be given to candidates who have relevant work experience in hospital engineering, vehicle/transport engineering and/or security systems engineering (See Note 2).Note:(1) For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.(2) Candidates should specify their relevant work experience in hospital engineering, vehicle/transport engineering and/or security systems engineering (e.g. the type(s) of engineering systems managed in the aforementioned areas) in the application form.Duties: Mainly deployed on the following types of work at the professional level – (a) law enforcement, regulatory services and advisory services; (b) operation and maintenance of systems and equipment plus improvement projects / works; (c) design, procurement, project management and other technical consultancy services in the electrical and mechanical engineering field; and (d) to perform any other duties assigned. Successful candidates may be required to work in other bureaux / departments or be referred to other bureaux / departments for appointment and may be required: (a) to work irregular hours / in remote areas / in harsh conditions; (b) to perform shift / stand-by / on call / emergency duties; and (c) to wear uniform / protective clothing.Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year. Renewal of contracts will be subject to the service need of the department and the performance and conduct of the candidates.Fringe Benefits(a) An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution to be made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.(b) Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave / paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted no less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.How to apply: Applicants should only submit the application form [G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023)] through the on-line application system on the Civil Service Bureau’s webpage (http://www.csb.gov.hk) not later than 2.1.2025.
